Breck's 1st Play at School

Our little White Dog, from Eric Carle's Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? Getting his costume on and getting ready to go to school!

With his classmates checking out each other's costurmes.

On stage, waving to the parents before they started.
After the play, and with his "wife" Julia. Breck has been a little obssessed with Julia ( a girl from preschool) and last week during class they got married. Breck has been talking about her non-stop since. We are having a play-date with her tomorrow so I will let you know how that goes!
Oh, they kissed on the lips too and are having a baby soon! Breck wanted to bring a doll to school so he could put it in her shirt! ( Thanks, Erin!!) Guess, we have a little explaining to do :)

No more grass!!

Well this is the first time all year ( end of Jan 2012) that our grass has been completely covered. So we took advantage of a little snow play while we have it...who knows how long it will last!

Breck is always helping out the neighbors with their snow removal. He is going to be the neighborhood shoveler I think!
And of course we have been skating quite a bit lately! Cullen is doing some standing, but mostly he likes when Shawn skates while holding him. Or if I put him on the goal :)

There is nothing better than watching my boys bond over a lil hockey!

Breck has advanced into being able to use a stick. Shawn hold him he had to know how to skate before he could use a stick....well, he is a GOOD skater!

Look at him go! He was also admiring all the "Big Kids" play in the rink behind him. It won't be too long until he will be able to play out there!

A little sledding on ice is always a good time! Faster Daddy, Faster!

Last night we volunteered to help out at our local hockey rink. Breck skated for 3 hours straight. The only way we got him off the ice was after Shawn had completely flooded it and he couldn't skate anymore. Cullen and I were in the warming house and he came out for a picture.

Here is an exhausted, runny nosed, cold face lil boy at 10pm last night!

Goofy boys

I love when I find the boys experimenting with new things. Breck taped his mouth first, and then wanted Cullen to play too.
So he taped Culley's mouth and then decided to get out some tools! I wasn't sure what he was going to do with them, but he had an idea.

This is how you get tape off your face....didn't you know?

The boys have been "hiding" from Shawn everyday when he comes home from work. Today they were cuddling in bed and Mazie was on the floor. I have never let her up in bed with them, but wanted to see what would happen. So I called her up and got one picture before they all got out of bed. No one really enjoyed it like I thought they would!

Children's Museum....again :)

Cullen is LOVING choo-choo's right now. Both at home and while we are out and about trains are on his mind! He even pushed a kid away when he got too close to his choo-choo's! Guess I have to keep a better eye on him ;)

Breck was driving the boat and wanting me to go skiing. I guess January is the earliest I have ever been skiing :)

Row Row Row your boat, gently down the stream, merrily merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream!

The only time they are still.....is when watching the trains!

Breck Skating

We haven't been skating as much as we would like because the weather has been SO nice (I'm not complaining ) but we got out this morning for a bit and I am so impressed each time I see Breck skate. He improves so much each time :) Great Job Breck!!

CHASE!!!....

Our Boys LOVE to play Chase! I got out of the game for a second to try and document some of their fun. It's a daily ritual in our house, but today it became something totally different

When we first started running both boys were fully clothed. Breck said he was sweating, so he took off his shirt. Cullen followed. Then came off the pants and socks. Cullen followed.

Next thing I know they are down to their diaper/undies......can you guess what happened next??
You got it! Naked Chase! I have never heard them laugh SO hard. They thought they were really funny :) Look at those lil bums!

Finally it's COLD out!

We have gotten so used to going outside with only medium weight jacket and the occasional hat and mittens this winter (if you can even call it that) that we only survived 20 minutes at the park the other day. The wind was awful but the kids, or the Moose and Lion I should say, still had a good time! They are so cute!

Skating again....

Only this time both boys are in skates. I took Cullen out once before this but it was much easier to do with two adults. They are both ready to skate....

Yeah Cullen! I love this picture cause it looks like he is really skating! Don't worry folks, we don't have a prodigy on our hands. He was able to stand there and keep his balance for awhile.

Daddy teaching Breck a few new things to work on and showing him how to do them. They also had a few races across the ice...it was so fun to watch!

Here he is actually taking strides and moving his feet with a lot of help from Dad. But he has a lot of energy and excitment for it so who knows when he will be able to do it on his own!

Connect 4

The boys having been playing a lot of games lately.....and this one was actually being played by its rules (sort of!) They spent a good part of the morning putting the pieces in frame in different patterns, same color rows, Breck only using yellow and Cullen only using red and visa versa, and of course "who can get them in faster".....but all and all they did great with it.

The smile on Breck's face and the look in his eyes is enough to tell you that he had a plan and that he was having fun doing it too!

And this is Culley so proud cause " I do it, self" And I think he was pretty pumped to be playing a "Big Kid game" with his older brother!

Boxing Shorts

Sorry for the delay in updating....it has taken a while after the holidays to recover and start functioning in a semi-normal fashion.

Our friends Paul and Meghan got married over Thanksgiving weekend in Mexico and then spent all of December traveling Thailand. So jealous! Anyways, the boys got these packages in the mail from them and here is what happened....

"Mom, are these Breezers??" Haha, no hunny...they are boxing shorts. "Boxing shorts, what are those?" Well it's a sport where 2 people go in a ring and punch each other...

So we put them on each child and told them to put their dukes up. They looked at us like we were crazy (a good thing..I guess) and we ended up with a doggy paddle and an I'm cold stance. We then told them to lightly punch each other for some action shots....(a little weird when we are always telling them hands are not for hitting. But they did well)
I love this picture. Breck was doing really nice gentle punches and Culley was flexing and almost asking for Breck to hit him harder! "Come on Big Bro...is that all you got?"
In the Left side of the ring wearing yellow shorts is amateur boxer of the year, weighing in at 33 pounds and towering his opponent at 40 inches tall we have BRECK BURNS. And in the Right side of the ring wearing red and blue we have a furious competitor at half his opponent's age, weighing in at 27 pounds and 34 inches tall we have CULLEN BURNS!! Let the games begin :)

Burns New Years

We went to Mankato for the New Years Weekend and also celebrated our Christmas! The first present the boys opened together was a trampoline!!! So much fun! They love it and have been jumping a lot since being home!

Awesome Uncle Greg got the boys animal hats...Cullen a lion and Breck a moose. They are super cute!

Cullen also got a BUS which was one of his highlights. We almost needed a U-Haul to get everything home with us!
Grandma Carol opening a gift with a very excited onlooker. It was hard to not help everyone open their gifts, but he did a good job.

Cullen also got a new baby with medical equipment so the "Doctors" were taking care of her.

The boys in front of the tree. I have tried and tried to get a good one in front of our tree but I always seem to get the best one of them at the Burns' house.

This is a GREAT picture of all of us, however, the light behind us makes it a little blurry. It looked better on my camera (wish we would have taken a back up)
The boys got some really cool Minnesota WILD hats from the Johnson family! Thank you :) They are adorable! Then that evening we headed to the hockey rink for some skating.
Wish we would have brought Cullen's skates cause he was having a blast on his boots.
Breck is getting really good and becoming more confident every time he skates. But he is still more fascinated with the penalty box and players benches.
I think this might be a quite regular occurrence from now on and a lot of our family pictures will be taken at rinks or arenas. Oh, boy.....we are in trouble!
Cullen's new favorite word is "Chase" so he wanted Dad to chase him on skates while Culley ran. It was fun to watch cause they were both having such a good time. Even Breck did some chasing, but wanted to be chased more!
Grandma has some great outdoor toys....you know, like a dump truck, a grader, and a digger! The boys were busy at work moving snow and ice and burning some energy as well!
Before we left we headed to the Mall for a little shopping and of course a Carousel ride. Grandpa Mike and Cullen are on the first horse and Breck and Grandma Carol are right behind them. It was such a success they rode it twice! Thanks for such a wonderful weekend. It's always nice to be together.
